The Center's Philosophy
The media center is the hub of the school's educational activities. Achieving such a media center hinges on many different facets - a collaborative relationship among the media center specialist, the teachers, and administration; a well developed collection in a variety of formats that is fully integrated into the school's curriculum and provides for the interest, information, and enlightenment of all; a well organized facility making location of information easily accessible; a well developed media center curriculum that teaches inquiry skills in an authentic setting; a program that incorporates technology for inquiry as well as for presenting information; and an open, inviting atmosphere that inspires a love for reading and life long learning. A thriving school media center is a vital component to a successful learning environment.
The media center is open from 8:15 AM- 4:15 PM Monday through Friday. If students need extra time for projects, they are welcome to schedule time after 3:45 PM with the media specialist.
Students may check out two items - books and/or magazines. They may keep books for two weeks and magazines for a day. There will be no fines for overdue fines, but students must take care of items that are overdue before checking out new items. If students lose a book or magazine, they will be expected to pay for the replacement value of the item.
