About JROTC

The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is a high school elective designed to motivate young people to become better citizens.  Students enrolled in JROTC are referred to as Cadets.

The program has four Leadership, Education and Training (LET) levels. LET 1s are usually freshman, LET 2s sophomores, LET 3s Juniors, and LET 4s seniors.  LET 1 and LET 2 are foundation building years where cadets learn all the fundamentals of teamwork, military drill and ceremony, fitness, and self development.  LET 3 provides experiential (hands on) leadership training where cadets serve in leadership positions within the Corps of Cadets hand help teach, coach and mentor the underclassmen.  LET 4 cadets serve as Regimental Staff who plan and organize the training events and community support activities.

The Corps of Cadets is structure around a military style chain-of-command.  The Corps is formed as a Regiment in honor of the Illinois Regiment General George Rogers Clark commanded during the Revolutionary War.  The Regiment has two companies, Bowman and Worthington; named after two of General Clark's company commanders.
