WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A SCHOOL-BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP?
Clark County’s economic well-being is linked to the education of its citizens. Although the Clark County School System has made progress toward educating its young people by promoting a district wide literacy program and adding preschool and kindergarten to the schools, the improvements can be moved to a higher pace with the support from the business community.

Enhancing employment involvement in education was the goal behind the formation of the partnership between the Clark County School System and the Winchester-Clark County Chamber of Commerce. Since October 2005, a small group of education, government, business and interested persons have been meeting with school principals and business people to see how businesses can work most effectively with the schools. |

From these meetings have come many ideas such as: developing a business directory with contact names for schools, providing Junior Achievement in every school and classroom, providing personnel to teach Junior Achievement, allowing employees to leave work for parent-teacher conferences and adopting a school.
These strategies were in line with the goals of this committee which consisted of improving academic achievement for all students, reducing the dropout rate, training and equipping student for workplace for higher education, providing additional funding and providing better public communication. These and other strategies will be realized through mounting an aggressive effort to work together to best educate Clark County students and then retain them for our workforce.
